Time for some truth talk about midlife for women.
As mentioned in Episode 1 of the Midlife Money Gal Podcast, Psychology Today defines midlife as a central period of life between the ages of 40 and 65.
Technically, we mid-lifers are made up of baby boomers and GenXers. Baby Boomers are born between the years of 1946 and 1964, and GenXers between 1961 to 1981 (there’s a bit of an overlap). The bottom line, if you are between the ages of 40 and 65, you’re in midlife!
Midlife is really a critical life phase in my view. And that’s why I’m talking more all about it on the podcast. We are faced with many challenges, and changes, and transitions, and turning points.
In this episode, I talk about the U-curve, a social sciences term that describes a universal downward slope in happiness typically experienced as you age and bottoms out in your early 50s. Have you experienced this gradual decline yourself?
The good news is, happiness typically turns back upward after 50 :).
Also in this episode I talk about the various challenges we as women face in midlife and as we age. But it’s not all bad. I also talk about the wonderful parts of midlife and the things we have to look forward to.
The bottom line is that midlife is full of twists and turns. As far as your financial life goes, you’ll be making some of the biggest money decisions in midlife.
I want you to be prepared for all of what midlife has to offer you so that you can live your best midlife.
The bottom line is we don’t peak in midlife. We’re just beginning. It’s a new beginning, and you can decide what you want the rest of your life to be like.
You have a lot of control over this, based on the decisions you make about your health and wellness, about your work, and about your wealth and your money. My goal is to help you overcome some of these challenges that you’re going to face, that we are going to face together, and really thrive in midlife.
